Connecting the Cape’s insurance community since 1898

The Insurance Institute of the Western Cape was first established in 1898 and is the oldest local institute in South Africa. We are a nonprofit organisation committed to serving the interests of the insurance community of the Western Cape.

Our two main areas of focus are education and networking, with a large number of targeted events and seminars being held throughout the year in various parts of the province.

The IIWC runs a number of regular recreational and fundraising activities for members throughout the year. These range from golf and lawn bowls to charity auctions and social events such as general knowledge and music quizzes. The main event on our calendar is the glamorous annual gala dinner, where members of the industry get together to network with all their counterparts in the industry whilst enjoying an entertaining evening of dinner and dancing with live entertainment. A black tie affair that is always enjoyed by all.

The IIWC is proud of its role in the community, supporting a number of deserving charities with funds raised throughout the year.

The IIWC runs a series of education seminars throughout the year in conjunction with the industry’s top specialists. These presentations are free to IIWC members and earn CPD hours.

We have also partnered with RISKAFRICA and the FIA in The Insurance Bootcamp, a national series of educational initiatives offered at special rates to members. Three Bootcamps are held each year covering a variety insurancerelated topics. Members are also able to earn CPD hours by attending these events.
